Most of my working life has been spent felling hardwoods with my father. The firewood business evolved from this as people became more and more interested in sustainable, renewable energy sources.
We took advantage of this new demand supplying a quality product at an affordable price.
Seasoned firewood is naturally dried. This avoids the cost and energy usage of kiln dried firewood and allows production of a quality product at a competitive price.
Cordwood is delivered to the yard and stacked off the ground on bearers to allow air circulation and avoid damp. This is the start of the seasoning process. Cordwood is then cut to length, typically 22.5cm (9 inches), and split to the required size and then stored in cages that are protected from the rain but are open to the air so they can dry naturally.
All wood is sourced locally from licensed, sustainable forestry operations.
Deliveries are made using a 5 ton Isuzu Tipper. This set up enables access to most places.
Barney is my delivery mate. He's a Parson Jack Russell and rounds up any logs that go astray, and sometimes my lunch!
